Score Much more Than Touchdowns on Xbox Madden 10

If learning about all the new stuff still hasn't made you excited about Xbox Madden 10, then maybe a visit to video gaming's not-so-distant past can put things into perspective. Yeah, it could be a bit cruel to constantly bag on older games as a means to elevate today's football video games. But it helps to see how much progress has been made in football video games, by taking a glance at the earliest video games and comparing them to Xbox Madden 10. Certainly, there was a huge, untapped market for football video games, when the first generation of console games made their debut. Only problem was, the gamers' ideas on what a great football video game should be, versus the reality of the video game consoles' capabilities, made for a shaky compromise. Even then, the game companies were excellent at the hype, and kept boasting that this one boasted "all the excitement" of real football. They didn't even try to make those guys look like people. What are you gonna do? The photo may be underwhelming, but the game itself is even more so. Characters started flashing and blinking, thanks to the limited memory of the early game consoles and cartridges. Gamers used to the crisp aural sensation of today's games would be stunned by the lack of cool sound here. As you'd probably guessed, there wasn't a scrolling screen for this one. Soon, the first round of the console wars would begin, and the competition created a football video game of their own. They definitely took the ball and ran with this one, giving gamers better gameplay, visuals, and sound. However, it was still a bit primitive.

Hardcore gamers were pretty excited by that one, as it really heralded the beginning of sports video games - but it was still just an early entry in the field. It would take a few more years before anything like that took place. Technology had caught up, albeit slightly, to gamers' football desires, to the point where this game has taken on an iconic status for gamers today. Over the years, this was the yardstick by which all football video games were measured.

Can't argue with the fact that the hardcore gamers did take to this one - for the first time, the NFL got the red-carpet treatment from a football video game. It was an amazing evolution in football video games, and this one was really a major turning point. Today, there's even a new incarnation of the game, and with that is a renewed reverence for it. While worthy of praise, it still trails in the distance from Xbox Madden 10.

It's always great to see how far we, and football video games, have come. Guess it's a waste of time to do too much putting down of the other, less sophisticated football video games. You've gotten the point. Those games had their weaknesses, but if it weren't for them, we wouldn't be playing Xbox Madden 10 today, so they did get the ball rolling. Of course, Xbox Madden 10 has really kicked this one over the goal posts, which has the video game world pretty pleased. The reviews are as positive as the reaction from the gamers themselves - it's a hit with the fans as well as the video game sites. "Realistic and enjoyable" are comments you'll see during most Xbox Madden 10 reviews. EA Sports has really concocted a Super Bowl sized hit with Xbox Madden 10, as expected. There are always going to be the haters, but pay no attention - Xbox Madden 10 rules. Not to put down any other Xbox sports video games, which have certainly earned their solid rep, but Xbox Madden 10 is just the best of the best. Most of the gaming world agrees that this is the new standard by which the rest shall be judged. If you're really ready to show your stuff, you can separate yourself from the pack and face off for big bucks. The stakes have been raised, and Xbox Madden 10 maniacs now can take each other on for some serious cash. Once you've reached your apex of acumen, you'll be the one scoring big - and filling up your wallet in the process.
